World Premiere American Actor Finals to be held at The Players Club of Swarthmore Theater - December 11th

The Players Club of Swarthmore Theater is proud to announce that it will be hosting the first-ever American Actor Finals, highlighting local acting talent, live on December 11, 2007. American Actor is an American Idol-style competition exclusively for actors - and is having its world premiere in the greater Philadelphia area.
According to Mike Shoeman, the Producer of American Actor, The Players Club of Swarthmore was selected as the venue, “for its physical plant, outstanding acting and audience spaces, small-town American charm, nearby restaurants, free parking, Internet connection, and its easy access to major roads…and [public transportation].” The Players Club enthusiastically agreed to host the American Actor finals to help show the world what kind of extraordinary acting talent can be found in the Delaware Valley.
The competition was conceived and has been produced by New Century Television – a company that offers several channels of themed broadcast content streamed over broadband internet. New Century has been joined in the venture by partners: Mike Lemon Casting, StageMagazineOnline.com, Q102, The Players Club of Swarthmore Theater, Village Productions and Life Act.
Hundreds of actors attended the initial audition on September 30 at Mike Lemon Casting. Then, over the course of three rounds of competition, the actors were narrowed down to six. Charlie Seymour, Jr., founder of StageMagazineOnline.com, explains, “Once they complete their film work at some of the area's top universities, they will be narrowed down to the Top 3 who will complete at the Finals.” Those finals will consist of more acting challenges, broadcast live on the internet – with both the in-person and online audiences voting for the winner in real time. That winner will then be guaranteed a slot on the network TV premiere of American Actor, which New Century Television plans to turn into a national production.
