The Players Club of Swarthmore Theater presents the Pulitzer-nominated drama Three Days of Rain in January

Any good historian will tell you that understanding our past is key to understanding our present. So, what happens when an undiscovered past is suddenly revealed? The Players Club of Swarthmore Theater will be exploring that very question in January, with its presentation of Richard Greenberg’s Pulitzer-nominated romantic drama, Three Days of Rain.

In Act One, we meet the son and daughter of a famous architect on the eve of the reading of their father’s will. It’s clear that their inheritance includes not only a famous house he designed, but also a tangled emotional legacy…and a mysterious diary that may help solve the puzzles of both. In Act Two we see firsthand the events recorded in the diary. It is then that we meet the introverted architect who doesn’t think he has talent, the flamboyant southern belle who thinks he does, and the partner whose life is enmeshed with each of theirs. The same actors play both generations – switching from the children to the parents in Act Two.

Julia Roberts made her Broadway debut in this intriguing character study, and its surprise-filled script has attracted other famous performers – such as Elizabeth McGovern, Colin Firth and Paul Rudd. The Players Club production of this wry but penetrating portrait of six unforgettable characters stars Sean Roach of Woodlyn, Heather Dyas-Fried of Woodlyn, and Benjamin Kanes of Haverford.

Three Days of Rain runs January 3-6, 10-13, and 17-19 . Thursday, Friday and Saturday performances are at 8pm and Sunday matinées are at 2pm. The Players Club of Swarthmore is located just minutes from the Blue Route and I-95 at 614 Fairview Avenue in Swarthmore.
