Props For Theater Made Easy
Hello again, I just had to tell you about a product that is new to me and will help all of you designers of theater props.
We all know how time consuming it can be to create the hundreds of props needed for large theater productions. If you already know about this product there is no need to read on. I'll be back next week with some new ideas relating to theater, costumes, fundraising or other aspects of theater arts for all of us theater lovers out there.
Have you ever heard of Flex-glue? Well, as the name implies, it is glue which remains flexible after it has dried. It never becomes hard or brittle. It can be used in the construction of any costume or prop which must be bent or manipulated.
If you are a costumer, here's a tip. You can mix it with shellac and dye and you have instant "leather." You can use it to apply fringe or lace to cloth or solid forms. It makes a good clear finish, similar to acrylic paint but it builds up faster and produces a heaview texture than clear acrylic.
All of you stage decorators; keep Flex-glue in mind for your theater needs where flexibility is needed. How about using flex-glue to create a row of fake books? Think of the weight difference between fake and real books. All you have to do is remove the pages of the books and glue the covers together to form a row. See what I mean?
Look for the Forums on http://www.StageMagazineOnline.com often. We're full of good ideas for your theater world - and we'll look for YOU to make suggestions too! Ruth
