Special Alert Blog for StageMagazineOnline.com - What's Happening The Week of January 14, 2008

Friends,

(Please remember that this is NOT the complete information. You need to log into your membership area on StageMagazineOnline.com to see everything!)

Lots of Openings as this New Year gets cranked up, so let's jump right in!

1) "Charlie, thanks for the notes about your Reviewers last week - I don't quite understand how I can become a Reviewer"

Hey, thanks for asking!

People reviewing Philadelphia Theater, Wilmington Theater, Lancaster Theater, Southern New Jersey Theater (well, you get the idea) come to us many different ways.

- Sometimes theaters recommend people to us - Act II Playhouse (that gem of a theater in the heart of the revitalization of Ambler, PA) really liked the quality of the writing they read from Amy Lewis. They suggested her to us… and believe me, we ran hard to catch her. Now she's our most active Reviewer (although with a break for the holidays as she used her vocal chords in the Philly Pops Chorus, she hasn't graced our electronic pages recently… but she's working hard to catch right back up!)

- Sometimes we read something we really like a pursue someone directly.

- Maribeth, our Reviewers Manager, has a very active campaign underway with what I call Online Hangouts: she's looking for people in social networking areas who enjoy theater. She drops them a short email, and if they respond, she sets our process in motion. She's great at what she does and signs up quality Reviewers as fast as they want to proceed.

- We have a strong connection to the Cappies Program and provide a location for them to publish their reviews of High School Theater.

- And sometimes people just write to Maribeth (Maribeth@StageMagazineOnline.com) or me (Charlie@StageMagazineOnline.com) directly to express their interest… and then Maribeth gets everything in motion.

The process is simple. And we love to put creative people to work sharing their love of theater. Could that be you too? Please write Maribeth if you'd like to join us as a Theater Reviewer!

2) With all the media attention on the national election (which is still 10 months away!) and so much talk about a recession, some theaters have worried about keeping their name in front of the public so that they can sell their ever-growing number of empty seats. We continue to have suggestions for all of you, and Kate, our Member Advocate, just wrote all Member Theaters with these suggestions and more:

___A. Be sure all of your information is up-to-date on our site. Some theaters have left out show dates, audition announcements, and forgotten to use the Articles and Releases section to send out releases about their productions. We can't help you if you don't have your information on the site.

___B. Help us get more Reviewers so that we can be sure that YOUR theater is reviewed. Surely you know one or two people who frequent your theater who would love to share their thoughts about the productions they see. Our requirements are easy to follow, so let Maribeth know!

___C. Once you are reviewed, be proactive with the review! Send the link to everyone you know, showing what we thought about your production. Don't just sit back and hope everyone reads it, send it to them!

___D. Use Social Networking. If you don't know how, check with us. We're ready to help.

___E. Opening Week Power Marketing: We continue to be ready to help you with all the firepower we can bring. If there's something we can do to help, let us know. (To Find Out More About Opening Week Power Marketing, Click Here!)

3) As I wrote before, we have LOTS going on here at StageMagazineOnline.com. In the coming weeks we'll tell you about our new Targeted Marketing, how we're using Infusion CRM to improve our marketing help, how QuikTix can help theaters sell their Same-Day empty seats, what all the lessons I'm learning from Internet experts at StomperNet, teaching us SMARTS marketing, can do for you, and so much more. Stay tuned!
