Special Alert Blog for StageMagazineOnline.com - What's Happening in Theater The Week of January 28, 2008
Friends,
(Please remember that this is NOT the complete information. You need to log into your membership area on StageMagazineOnline.com to see everything!)
Let's Sell Your Empty Seats!
1) Theaters are getting creative with their marketing!
In addition to posting your Articles and Releases here on StageMagazineOnline.com (and we encourage you to do it more than just once when you announce each production - think of other reasons you should write and post it here), there are four creative steps we want you to take:
A. Be creative in the way you link your latest production to something that is happening in the news. The Players Club, for its production of GoreVidal's political drama The Best Man (opening February 7, 2008) is having a Voter Registration Drive for its audience. With all of the national attention on the presidential race, it's tough to get the media to pay attention to theaters - so PCS will get the media to continue to pay attention to politics as it brings politics into its own lobby.
B. The Players Club is also hosting a Cabaret this Saturday (February 2, 2008) at 8:00 PM at the theater. That by itself might go unnoticed, but when they decided to make it the Assassins Cast presents a Cabaret hosted by Claudia Carlsson, it immediately linked itself in the minds of its theater-goers to their very successful production of Assassins earlier in the season. I have a feeling this cabaret will be overflowing with interested folks looking for a powerfully good time.
C. The Hedgerow Theater, like some of our other Member Theaters, is using Social Networks to further its marketing. Their upcoming production of Ethel Waters: His Eye Is On The Sparrow was recently sent as a invitation to people who are friends with Hedgerow. Social Networking and Social Bookmarking are becoming a greater force in marketing our theaters, and we at StageMagazineOnline.com automatically post your materials on our several sites as we work to help you sell your empty seats.
D. Theaters like Act II Playhouse in Ambler and Lantern Theater Company in Philadelphia use their inhouse lists well, as they email all their friends each time a production opens. Staying in touch with those who support you is vital to your economic health.
2) Theaters: are you using the Articles and Releases section of StageMagazineOnline.com?
As I wrote before, Google is spidering us a lot! It never ceases to amaze me when I see that Google has indexed one of our articles or reviews within 10 minutes of our posting them. And when I get Google Alerts, I'm always amazed at how quickly our articles get into Google. (You ARE using Google Alerts to track what people are saying about you, right?)
If you are NOT having us publish your Theater Press Releases and stories several times a month, you are missing the boat! Click Here To Ask Kate To Help You Use the Articles and Releases Section on StageMagazineOnline.com!
