Penn's Theatre Arts Program presents Spring Awakening February 27- March 1st, 2008
Spring Awakening, written by German playwright Frank Wedekind just before the turn of the 20th Century, is a landmark work in modern world theatre. Written with great compassion and unsparing honesty, the play tells the story of a group of young men and women as they experience in themselves the "awakening" of sexual awareness and struggle to understand and come to terms with their passage from childhood innocence and freedom to adulthood. The play is being staged in a small arena theater, created out of the large rehearsal room, 511, on the Upper Mezzanine of the Annenberg Center. We hope that this intimate environment will give our Penn community audience the opportunity to enter the world of Spring Awakening and experience the lives of these characters in a unique and personal way. Please note that this play contains adult situations.
