Theater Special Alert - Week of April 7, 2008 - StageMagazineOnline.com

Friends,

1. Charlie is back from Atlanta where he studied Social Marketing with some of the top Internet Marketers!

What a time in Atlanta!

There is so much going on in Internet marketing that if you don't have a team of people supporting you and from whom you are learning, you are slipping further and further behind every day.

Large theaters should have someone on staff assigned to Internet Marketing. Have this person stay in touch with blogs around the country - not just THEATER blogs: you already have a pretty good idea what is happening in other theaters because there is LOTS of chatter around about that. But MARKETING blogs, Internet Marketing blogs, Social Marketing Blogs. I spend a great deal of time working on this and I still learned pages of specific new things to do during this international conference in Atlanta. (I heard more Australian accents than I heard good ol' southern accents from Georgia.)

Smaller theaters should see who on their board or membership stays focused on the Internet. Simply having a static website that lists your season just doesn't cut it any more. You need to interact with your audience: listen and they will tell you what they want. And when they do, you'll zoom up in the Google rankings, attracting even more people to fill your empty seats!

2) Spotlight Profile: Keep us informed - let us tell the world for you. Just like Mark Schroeder!

Congratulations to American Actor participant Mark Schroeder who will play Romeo in the Delaware Shakespeare Festival's summer production of Romeo and Juliet at Rockwood Mansion Park. Mark will be graduated from Penn State's School of Theatre with a B.A. this spring. At PSU, Mark has been seen in A Year with Frog and Toad, Twelfth Night, and Much Ado About Nothing, among others. He has also been in several films and industrials. Romeo and Juliet is also Mark's debut with the Delaware Shakespeare Festival. (Mark's most ardent supporter sent me this information - hey, I have spies everywhere who are willing to share great info like this!!)

3) Theaters: it's time to enter NEXT season into your theater's info here at StageMagazineOnline.com!

Please remember as you build your marketing campaigns to UPDATE your information on StageMagazineOnline.com in two places:

- On the main site: be sure all your upcoming productions are listed. We can't tell the world if you don't tell us!

- Here in our Articles and Press Releases area. Be sure to submit your press releases to this location EVERY time. If you still don't know how to do that, please write to Kate. She's terrific and knows intimately how the full site works.

- Also… auditions for the open of your next season are probably coming up soon. Be sure to list those on the site, here in the Articles and releases section, AND… since you are getting some early publicity by telling people of the auditions, be sure that your show information is updated here NOW so that people can mark their calendars for when your show is playing.
