Theater Special Alert - Week of April 14, 2008 - StageMagazineOnline.com

Friends,

1. Theaters - The End of the Season is the time to sell NEXT Season!

The end of the 2007 - 2008 Season is in sight! Break a Leg with your final performances…

Are you ready to present NEXT season to your audience?

The BEST time to sell NEXT season is at the end of THIS season. You should do everything you can to get the word out to your present audience during your final production. People that are supporting you THIS season are your best prospects for NEXT season. Please: don't overlook how vital this is to your existence.

Tell your audience at EACH performance WHY each production was selected for next season. Don't just tell them the titles of the productions and assume they know the show. Make them FEEL the energy of the upcoming season so they will want to join you.

As subscription audiences are shrinking around the country (in favor of single ticket sales), let YOUR audience feel apart of your "family." Only then will they continue to support you. And you NEED them to support you.

And they WANT to support you - If… IF you show them how important they are to you.

2) Spotlight Profile: Michael Steven Schultz Scores !

Philadelphia-area Actor and Director Michael Steven Schultz has hit it big time! And this time as a Lyricist!

Residing in Swarthmore, PA, Michael Steven Schultz (writing as Z. Mulls) is best known locally for his acting and directing at The Players Club of Swarthmore where he and his wife, Ruth Fischer, are well-known. Winning this competition is a really big deal - there were over 15,000 entries this year, and the competition is judged by industry professionals and "names" such as Macy Gray, Jerry Lee Lewis, and Tom Waits.

3) Theaters: Would you like some strip lights, FREE?!

For years, the Swarthmore Presbyterian Church has had a small stage in its McCann Hall. But the active church needed to convert the space into a classroom, so it now needs to get rid of (what I paced off to be) a 20 Ft set of strip lights - you know, the strip with three circuits of PARS with three colored glass lenses. (And the colored lenses seem to be in very good shape.)

If you can remove and take the lights away, they are yours. First one to set up an appointment and then remove the lights gets to keep them.

But act quickly - they'll be THROWN AWAY if someone doesn't claim them this week.
