The Hedgerow Theatre in Rose Valley, PA (Truly A National Treasure) Needs Your Support - Gala Planned for November 17, 2007
The Hedgerow Theatre in Rose Valley, PA is America’s oldest continuously operating residential repertory theatre and it's having a celebration and fundraiser to support its many efforts.
It is truly a national treasure located right in the greater Philadelphia community. It celebrates its 85th Anniversary this fall and needs your help.
Housed in an 1840 gristmill, the Hedgerow Theatre was founded in 1923 by artists so passionate that one proclaimed, “We will perform theatre if we have to do it in the hedgerows.” (Hence, its name.)
The theater’s focus has always been on ensemble acting and on producing challenging work. It offers the opportunity to watch emerging actors grow under the mentoring experience of veteran actors and directors. Experimentation and risk are encouraged with lots of emphasis on how members of the ensemble interact with each other.
Hedgerow is a non-profit organization that operates as both a professional theatre and an educational center for the training, development, and education of theatre artists and enthusiasts. The unique interaction of these two components of Hedgerow, results in each component challenging the other to develop, expand, and explore.
The main goals of the Hedgerow remain – produce high quality artistic works and develop all manner of artisans from actors to designers and stage managers. Unfortunately, as for all small theaters, the proceeds from ticket sales alone are insufficient to fully fund the theater’s vision and goals. To remain viable, the Hedgerow needs the support of the entire community, including YOU!
To celebrate the Hedgerow Theatre’s 85 Anniversary and to earn the funds needed to continue the mission of the theater in education and outreach, a very special evening is planned.
On November 17 2007 the Old Mill will host an extraordinary evening of food, music, entertainment and fun. With a Roaring Twenties theme, the evening will include special musical entertainment, fabulous food, drinks, live music, dancing and silent & live auctions.
The most influential people the community will be attending this very special event.
Because the auction is happening at the peak of the Holiday Shopping Season we expect attendees to be looking for holiday gift ideas. Therefore, the Auction Committee’s goal is to advertise your company and donation in the display, catalog and publications in a way that will highlight the best features of you, your products and services for the holiday shopping season.
Reaching our goal depends on the generosity of the friends of Hedgerow Theater: families, businesses and community members. Please consider making a donation to this year’s auction. To make a donation, simply email Jim Kuly. Donations are needed immediately. Donations submitted, along with their donors, will be prominently acknowledged in the auction catalog that all auction attendees will receive (if donations are received in time before the publication deadline for the Celebration Booklet).
